Sunday Mornings
This is our main worship meeting of the week and we meet at 10.30am. The service lasts until 11.45-12.00 noon and is followed by free refreshments in the cafe area. It is open to everyone and suitable for all ages.
Where should I sit?
You can sit anywhere you feel comfortable and stand or sit for the songs as you wish. There is a Welcome Desk in the foyer if you want more information about the church and a member of the Welcome Team will answer any questions you may have and show you to a seat if asked.
What's a service like?
The service is generally in two halves and the first half includes a time of worship when we sing together - the song words are displayed on a large screen; often a short children's talk; and a time of sharing blessings and encouragments together. Our worship is not liturgical but we use modern and contempory songs as well as some older hymns, and a variety of musical instruments. Sometimes it includes other things and events that we want to share whilst the children are still in the service such as Child Dedications and Mission reports.
In the second half of the service there is usually a time of intercessory prayer when we pray for things that are happening around us and a time when the Bible is read and a sermon preached. Sermons last 20-30 minutes and often include video and other visual material, and are meant to be inspiring and challenging - not boring and irrelevant to modern life! We usually finish with a song and a blessing, and personal prayer is always available for those that would value it after the service. Refreshments are served in the cafe area.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code for church! However, most folk dress smart casual but casual is fine. Come in what you are comfortable wearing.
What about my children?
About 11.00am, just after the notices, the children and Young People go out for their separate classes. You can find out more about these on the children and Young Peoples pages but they are open to all children and young people. All those teaching and working in these classes are CRB checked and vetted. If you are a visitor with children and wish to go with them to check things out, then please feel free to do so. There is also a creche for the little ones. A member of the Welcome Team will show you where to go if you are visiting.
Is there a collection?
There is an offering or collection for the work of the church though this is primarily for those who attend regularly and want to support the work of the church financially. If you are a visitor, just let the offering basket pass by without feeling obliged to contribute. Many church people give by other means so a lot of folk just pass the basket on without putting anthing in it.
I have something that I believe is from God that I would like to share with the church?
If there is no opportunity in the service specifically given over for the sharing of prophetic words, visions, dreams, passages of Scripture, words of encouragement etc., and you have something that you believe is from God for the whole church, then speak to one of the leaders whilst the service is going on, and they will create an opportunity for you to share if they believe it is timely. Remember, all spiritual revelations must be weighed and not accepted on face value without being weighed.
