Intercessory Prayer Group
This group, called 'The Redwoods', (before you ask because Redwoods or Sequoias are our tallest trees that poke out above the rest of forest canopy so make excellent viewing platforms or watchtowers!) meets weekly at different times and in different places to pray through specific hard issues that the Holy Spirit puts before us. We intercede and spend time seeking God's guidance as to how to pray for whatever it is that we are focussing on.
There is also a spiritual warfare aspect to the group's purpose because as Paul says in Ephesians 6:12, 'Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.'
The group is open to those in the church who feel called to this type of ministry or would like to explore it, so if that is you, please have a word with Ian or Heather.
We normally meet weekly on a Thursdsay evening for an hour and a half and monthly on a Fridays for a longer time which takes the form of a half night or full night of prayer. We also organise prayer mornings or full days on a Saturday or midweek. See Take 5 for details of the next one.
