What we believe

In simple terms, we believe that Jesus Christ changes our life when we trust and follow Him, and that we really can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus that will last for eternity. It's not about religion but a relationship, and one that enables us to be fruitful and fulfilled in life - to be the person God created us to be. It's a journey of discovery that enables us to live life to the full even through the trials of life, and know His joy, peace, hope and love in our hearts. It is a path of faith and belief, and is summed up in one of the most famous texts of the Bible - John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Becoming a Christian is a choice. We are not born Christians and no one can make this decision for us. It's personal. For some Christians, they can point to an exact time and place when they invited Jesus to take control of their life and they began to follow Him. For others, they can't, because it has been a 'journey' experience and they know that right now they are following Christ but are not sure when they actually started on the journey. Well, as one preacher said, 'You don't need to have a birth certificate to know that you have been born!' The important thing is that you belong to Jesus Christ and know that your sins have been forgiven, and that you have peace with God.

In more formal doctrinal terms, as a Baptist Church we are part of a large family of Baptist Churches in the UK in membership with the Baptist Union of Great Britain. They have recently updated their website with additional material on what Baptist's believe and how they are structured, so rather than re-invent the wheel, click on the link below to find out more. We also hold as a church to the Evanglical Alliance 'Basis of Faith' which you can read below.
